Holbrook responds to speculation about his future

St Helens head coach Justin Holbrook says his future will be sorted in a few weeks.

The 43-year-old has yet to sign a contract extension and has been heavily linked with a number of NRL jobs.

Holbrook was previously on the coaching staff at Canterbury Bulldogs and they are reportedly lining up the Saints boss to replace under fire coach Dean Pay.

Speaking to the St Helens Star, Holbrook said: “I have not got an update yet, and I know I have said that a few times in the last couple of weeks.

“It is not good for anyone because I don’t like speculation myself, but I have left it to my management to look after.”

Since taking charge in 2017, Holbrook has made St Helens the most consistent and entertaining team in Super League.

His success is turning heads in Australia and despite the wait for him to sign a new deal at Saints, it is expected that he will commit his future to the Red Vee.

“Saints have done everything right and obviously want me to re-sign, which is fantastic,” said Holbrook.

“I know I have said it will be sorted in a few weeks before – but it definitely does have to be a few weeks now because it cannot drag on any longer.

“I hope that it can get sorted soon.”
