Hip Hip Hurrell

Leeds Rhinos have announced the signing of Gold Coast Titans centre Konrad Hurrell .

The 27 year old Tongan International had been at the Titans since 2016 after signing from New Zealand Warriors , he played for Tonga in last year’s World Cup where they were knocked out in the semi final by England .

He is currently with the Tongan squad as they prepare to take on the Kangaroos on Saturday and has made 9 appearances for his country . Overall in the NRL he has scored 55 tries in 116 games and will surely become a fans favourite at Headingley .

Rhinos Director Kevin Sinfield is very excited with the signing stating earlier “Over the years, Rhinos fans have always loved a strong running centre and Konrad certainly fits that bill,”

“He will provide a real strike threat for us in the centres,”

Hurrell himself , full name Konileti Hurrell , is looking forward to linking up again with new Leeds Coach Dave Furner , who he worked with on International duty , stating “I have done a lot with Dave in the Tongan camp over the last few years and he has helped me a lot,” he went on to say “Part of the attraction for me was the changes that Dave Furner is looking to bring in at the club. ”

“He has been looking to recruit quality players to add to the squad and it is an exciting time to be joining the club.
“I haven’t managed to win a Premiership ring in the NRL but I feel like I am coming into my prime and the plan is to try and help Leeds get back up to challenging for honours so I can achieve success over the next three years.”

Hurrell will be a marquee signing at Headingley , Leeds 1st ,and should make his club debut on Boxing Day ( We’re sure he’ll love the English winters ) . He will add some real strike for the Rhinos as they look to put a disastrous 2018 behind them , last time Leeds were in the middle 8 they were crowned champions , Sinfield and Furner will be hoping Hurrell can help history repeat itself .
