Harry Newman’s brother calls out “keyboard warriors” as Leeds centre deals with “Twitter abuse”

Yesterday Harry Newman looked set to win the game for Leeds Rhinos as he broke through against Wigan Warriors and had Richie Myler in support.

However, with Bevan French in front of him who he had out foxed earlier for a try with a dummy, Newman fiend the pass and was tackled.

Naturally, a big moment, it has sparked a lot of discussion but Harry’s brother Ed has taken to social media to push against this.

Speaking in a Leeds Rhinos Fans Facebook group, Ed explained what Newman was thinking as he called out keyboard warriors:

“As Harry’s Brother I’ll be the first to say Harry should of passed the ball. But it’s easy to say we’d have all done this and done that in that situation.

“Harry was going to pass the ball but changed his mind as French made a movement towards Myler but still able to get to harry.

“Yes if he releases the ball in the end we probably score but also clever defending from French. To see fans saying he lost us the game is laughable.

“The game was lost from the awful second half performance. He could of won the game but he didn’t lose it as Rohan said. He was only the one who made anything happen in the second half and unfortunately it didn’t pay off.

“The better the player the more hate you seem to get when you make a mistake. Some people on here need to grow up. It’s embarrassing the level of abuse. Understand the game before commenting. Keyboard warriors at your best!

“He’s 23 years old still learning the game. Some people think he’s hit his prime. Wonder how you lot would feel if it was your family member putting there body on the line week in week out and this is how you get treated from one mistake. He’s upset at himself enough without seeing all the abuse on Twitter.”
