Leeds Rhinos have been taking on Hull KR tonight in what has been a fiery encounter so far at Craven Park.

Hull KR ran into a 10-0 lead before Leeds hit back with a big try but the Robins hit a 14-6 lead.

However, the Rhinos came back into it with two brilliant tries to lead at the break 18-14.

But, that seemed to pale into insignificance when Sky Sports commentators announced that Bodene Thompson had been taken to hospital following a sickening clash.

Into the start of the second-half and Morgan Gannon dotted down with the Rhinos going into a 22-14 lead.

Leeds had already been cut to ribbons with three suspensions to Rhyse Martin, Aidan Sezer and David Fusitu’a whilst James Bentley was left out due to a potential injury.

Hull KR, meanwhile, had had 16 players out a number of weeks ago and were hit with injuries to Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Greg Richards during the game.

However, Leeds were cut down again when Harry Newman limped off just before the hour with what looked like another hamstring injury.

That was then confirmed by Sky Sports pundit Jenna Brooks who saw the Leeds centre go straight down the tunnel.

If it is a bad one, it could be horrendous news for the Rhinos star as well as England with the World Cup at the end of the year.

Remember, Newman had been out for the opening rounds of Super League due to a hamstring problem and then did exactly the same injury against Wakefield Trinity when Richard Agar was still in charge at Headingley.

And, he had been getting back to his devastating best before the harrowing incident tonight.

Everyone at Serious About Rugby League passes on their well-wishes to Thompson and Newman.
