Hampshire signs new deal at Wakefield

Ryan Hampshire has done a U-turn and signed a new two-year deal at Wakefield.

The 24-year-old was revealed as one of several players who would depart the club last month, following extensive contract disputes.

Now, however, the two parties have reached an agreement that will see the utility back stay at Belle Vue until the end of 2021.

Hampshire has been a pivotal part of the Wakefield side since signing in 2018, scoring 20 tries and 89 goals in 57 appearances.

Chris Chester has secured the services of Ryan Hampshire for the next two years.

“I’m really pleased with this two-year deal,” he said. “Both parties are happy with how it’s been done.

“I’m just looking forward to pre-season now. I’ll enjoy the rest of my time off and then I’ll be ripping in to get ready for 2020.”

Trinity head coach Chris Chester added: “I’m really pleased we’ve agreed a deal with Rocky for him to remain at Trinity for the next two years.

“Rocky was good for us in 2019 and now that there’s a deal in place, I’m looking forward to welcoming him back in for pre-season and seeing him in the Red, White & Blue for the next two years.”
