Halifax RLFC have revealed a new brand identity, which will see them renamed ‘Halifax Panthers’.
The club say this is a show of ambition for them, as they look to move into the modern era, and attract new fans to The Shay.
In a viral sensation, everyone from national newspapers through to social media groups, have been talking about the Halifax Big Cat this past week with over 250,000 people talking about the campaign and growing.
They launched the new look in a virtual press conference, streamed from The Piece Hall onto their social media channels.
Commercial Director Steve Lambert said: “It is the way for the club to go, because we are a downward spiral. That is like many clubs in rugby league.
“Our attendances have been going down steadily for the last number of years. We had to do something about it.
“There is not a lot you can do in strange times like this. It is a bit off the wall, but we are all firmly behind it.
“Everything came together at the right time.”
