Halifax Panthers hand new deal to star halfback

Everything is currently rosy at the Shay with Halifax Panthers in great form.

After a disappointing start to the season on the back of a busy winter and a huge recruitment drive, the Panthers are now beginning to show the kind of form they promised after nine signings including former Super League star Kyle Wood from Wakefield.

The Panthers have climbed up to fourth in the table and have only lost five games all season. They alongside York now seem to be putting some serious pressure on Featherstone in second place – something that once seemed impossible.

Giving the Panthers and extra boost, the club tonight have announced an important contract extension to one of the signings they brought in last winter.

Louis Jouffret is the man in question and will remain at the club for 2023 and beyond.

He starred for Whitehaven last year as they made the play-offs before losing to Halifax in week one. He has a big reputation in France having played for the likes of Toulouse and has further history at West Yorkshire clubs playing for Batley from 2018-19 and a brief spell at Featherstone cut short by the pandemic.

He joined Avignon in 2021 before making a short return to Whitehaven where he helped the club confirm their play-off status before being poached by Halifax who now have secured his services long term.
