Halifax Panthers forward banned for TWO MONTHS after unsuccessful appeal

Jake Mamo of Castleford Tigers has successfully appealed against the one-match suspension imposed on him by the Match Review Panel for disputing a decision in the Betfred Super League victory at Hull FC last Friday. Tonight’s meeting of the Operational Rules Tribunal accepted Mamo’s plea that his actions were not aimed at the referee, and therefore found him not guilty.

The ORT upheld the one-match suspension imposed on Kelepi Tanginoa of Wakefield Trinity, who had challenged a Grade A charge of dangerous contact in Sunday’s home game against St Helens. The challenge was not found to be frivolous, but the one-match suspension and £500 fine still stands.

The ORT also upheld the two-match suspension imposed on the Widnes Vikings forward Adam Lawton, rejecting his challenge against a Grade C high tackle charge in their recent Betfred Championship win against Newcastle Thunder. Again, the challenge was not found to be frivolous.

The ORT also considered an appeal from the Halifax Panthers forward Titus Gwaze against the eight-match suspension imposed for a Grade E charge of Other Contrary Behaviour in a Betfred Championship fixture at Barrow Raiders. The appeal was unsuccessful, so the eight-match suspension remains.
