Group sex scandal threatens to plunge NRL into turmoil

New Zealand Warriors player Bodene Thompson is at the heart of a group sex scandal which has cast a dark cloud over the off-field behaviour of NRL players.

Lingerie model and ex-stripper Belinda Medlyn, 35, says she fell pregnant to the Warriors star the night before a game against Canterbury Bulldogs, following a series of secret sex sessions.

She says players use group sex for bonding and releasing their pent-up energy and claims they had five secret sex sessions together – which included two of Thompson’s teammates.

Medlyn gave birth to son Hendrix in May 2016 and claims that Thompson hasn’t been keeping up with child support payments – a statement the 29-year-old strongly denies.

Thompson has hit back and says the former Penthouse Pet Medlyn only went public with their romps after he refused to pay her $50,000 on top of child support.

In a statement released to Channel 9, Thompson said: “I refused to pay her this money on the basis that I was already paying her child support as assessed by the Child Support Agency.

“These allegations, which occurred many years ago, have been raised so publicly in a failed attempt to extort money from me to the detriment of myself and my child.

‘This story has no benefit except to attempt to smear my reputation. Ms Medlyn approached me in June 2017 threatening that she would expose this story unless I gave her a sum of $50,000.

“I love my son and I have been striving to have a relationship with him. Ms Medlyn has made this difficult, however I continue to seek avenues to pursue having a proper relationship with my son.

“I continue to meet all of my financial obligations to my son and work hard to ensure his future.”

As the NRL says tries to change the player culture and attitudes to women, Warriors CEO Cameron George said the club had received confirmation from Thompson’s lawyer that he was up-to-date with child payments.

The NRL’s Integrity Unit had also been notified and they were satisfied that his actions hadn’t brought the game into disrepute.

Thompson, who has also played for Gold Coast and Wests Tigers, is now in a relationship with dancer Kaea Pearce and has a seven-year-old son with a previous partner.
