Greg Eden injury worry as Daryl Powell gives key update on Paul McShane

Castleford head coach Daryl Powell has revealed that Paul McShane could return for the Tigers’ Magic Weekend clash against Salford Red Devils.

The talismanic hooker went off in just the 14th minute in Castleford’s 23-12 victory over Hull FC a fortnight ago, but Powell is keen to bring him back into the side.

“Paul McShane had a scan yesterday, he’s not too bad and had a bit of a run today so we will check him again in a couple of days time,” Powell said.

“We’re not ruling him out but he could potentially come into the team – he’s one of the best players in the competition.

“I thought we missed him at the weekend, though Adam Milner had a great game the game before, the short turnaround took it out of him.

“He’s just got bruising in a really sore area, he’s got to get his head around that to start with and make sure he’s comfortable with it.

“He’s a tough human being and he will want to play that’s for sure.”

Powell also revealed bad news for Greg Eden, though Milner is set to play after leaving the Jungle early in defeat against Wigan.

“Adz is alright, he tweaked his back.

“Greg Eden has got a hamstring tear so he will be out – we’ve got a couple of options on the wing.

“He’s got to have a scan so we’re not certain of the severity so potentially he could be out for the season but I don’t think it is that bad.”
