Great Britain squad trimmed

Great Britain Lions have announced their 19 man squad to take on Papua New Guinea on Saturday.

Two players have been dropped from the original 21 man squad. They are Castleford Tigers halfback Jake Trueman and Wigan Warriors fullback Zak Hardaker.

It means more frustration for Trueman as he failed to make his Lions debut on this tour.

Meanwhile, Hardaker has not played since a late shoulder injury ruled him out of the second test against New Zealand.

This does also confirm that Blake Austin will continue on the wing. The half back played in the unfamiliar role in last Saturday’s defeat against the Kiwis.

But there could be a debut for Warriors halfback George Williams. He is expected to be named amongst the substitutes for the match.

The squad will be cut again to 17 on the day of the match.

The Lions are looking to end a disappointing tour on a high, after three straight defeats.

Kick off is at 7.30am UK time.

The full squad is:

Jonny Lomax (St Helens), Jermaine McGillvary (Huddersfield Giants), Jack Hughes (Warrington Wolves), Jake Connor (Hull FC), Blake Austin (Warrington Wolves), Gareth Widdop (St George-Illawara Dragons), Jackson Hastings (Salford Red Devils), Chris Hill (Warrington Wolves), Josh Hodgson (Canberra Raiders), Tom Burgess (South Sydney Rabbitohs), John Bateman (Canberra Raiders), Elliott Whitehead (Canberra Raiders), James Graham (St George-Illawara Dragons), Luke Thompson (St Helens), George Williams (Wigan Warriors), Joe Philbin (Warrington Wolves), Alex Walmsley (St Helens), Josh Jones (Salford Red Devils),Daryl Clark (Warrington Wolves)
