Grant Millington urges ‘patience’ after Castleford Tigers loss to Salford Red Devils

Castleford Tigers’ ‘New Era’ was more than spoiled by a wonderful Salford Red Devils performance last night.

Paul Rowley’s men outenthused and outperformed a lacklustre Castleford side who had head coach Lee Radford taking charge for the first time.

A 26-16 defeat – including four penalty goals from Salford’s talisman Marc Sneyd – in front of a 10,500 capacity crowd was hardly the best way to begin for Radford.

But, former Castleford legend Grant Millington has urged caution following the shock defeat, tweeting: “I’m yet to see the match as it wasn’t televised but @CTRLFC fans need to be patient. With so many new faces, and a new coach bringing new ideas and systems it’s going to take some time for things to click. Sure, be disappointed but reserve any real judgement for a few weeks.”

Castleford were torn apart by the likes of Sneyd, Andy Ackers and even Joe Burgess who looks revitalised under Rowley.

Meanwhile, Castleford looked lost with only new signing Joe Westerman impressing.

The Tigers face Warrington Wolves next week with Daryl Powell facing his former side early on.
