Grandson of former Hull FC & Hull KR legend to play crucial role in Rugby League World Cup Final

With the historic Rugby League World Cup 2021 coming to an exciting climax this weekend, organisers have today revealed the presentation parties for each of the men’s, women’s and wheelchair finals including the grandson of a former Hull FC and Hull KR legend and a Great Britain hero the last time they won a World Cup.

The wheelchair final will take place tomorrow evening (Friday 18 November) in front of a sellout crowd at Manchester Central where current holders France will take on hosts England.

Wheelchair rugby league pioneers Martin Coyd OBE, who is the England Wheelchair Team Manager, and Robert Fassolett, France’s Wheelchair Manager, will be bringing the match ball onto the field of play in the wheelchair final. Troy Grant, IRL Chair and Clare Balding, RFL President, will take part in the trophy presentation.

The double-header final at Manchester’s Old Trafford Stadium will be the first of its kind, starting with holders of the women’s trophy Australia taking on New Zealand in the women’s final. Soul Singer Heather Small will bring out the women’s trophy and one of the tournament’s inclusive volunteers will bring out the match ball as recognition of all their work before and during the tournament. Troy Grant, IRL Chair and Dame Katherine Grainger, Chair of UK Sport, will take part in the trophy presentation for the women’s final.

Moving onto the final fixture of RLWC2021, Australia v Samoa. The incredible Gary McKee, who is currently undergoing his Three Six Five Challenge in 2022, where he is planning to run a marathon each day of the year, will bring out the men’s trophy alongside Kane Sullivan, grandson of Clive Sullivan, who will bring out the official “Sully” ball for the men’s fine. Chris Brindley MBE, RLWC2021 Chair and Troy Grant, IRL Chair will then take part in the trophy presentations.

The RLWC2021 wheelchair final at Manchester Central will take place on Friday 18th November, kicking off at 19:30 (GMT). RLWC2021’s historic double-header final will kick off at 13:30 (GMT) on Saturday 19 November, with Australia vs New Zealand in the women’s tournament. The men’s final will follow, with Australia vs Samoa kicking off at 16:00 (GMT).
