Governing body goes back on regulations following backlash frenzy

Queensland health bosses have reneged on their ‘balcony ban’ following a heavy backlash.

Families in quarantine on the Gold Coast are now allowed access to fresh air, after previously being banned from their balconies due to the passing of items between residents.

Wests Tigers’ James Roberts was slapped with a $7,500 fine and a one-game ban for stepping out onto his balcony, but that punishment met with the ire of the majority.

Roberts has had problems with his mental health in the past and wanted some fresh air whilst in quarantine.

It comes as the coronavirus situation in Australia continues to wreak havoc – particularly in Sydney.
