Gold Coast Titans star Treymain Spry has suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain after a sickening assault that has left his NRL career in jeopardy.

News Corp can reveal Spry was the victim of a horrendous attack in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley entertainment precinct.

The 22-year-old Spry was hoping for a breakthrough NRL campaign this season after he scored two tries for the Titans in their 26-all trial draw with the Broncos last month.

But just a fortnight after that impressive display, Spry was left fighting for his life after a night out with his new girlfriend ended in the Queensland under-20s winger being king-hit by a man who now dates his ex-partner.

Spry himself has been cleared of any wrongdoing by Queensland police whilst his assailant, a Brisbane rugby player, has been charged with grievous bodily harm.

The attacker is due to appear in a Brisbane court in May, whilst the Titans starlet is said to be in a stable condition as he recovers at home.

But, his future in the game could be under threat as the Titans are set to put Spry through some rigorous tests to ensure he can return to the field.
