Catalans Dragons full-back Tony Gigot has been banned for “inappropriate behaviour” towards an anti-doping officer while on France national team duty last October.
Despite producing a negative test at the Le Bacares training camp, the Dragons have been informed their no.1 is suspended because of the exchange with a representative of the French anti-doping Department.
The Dragons have pledged their total support to Gigot who has declared to appeal the decision.
Catalans chief executive Christophe Jouffret said: “We are stunned by this sanction for a controlled player whose results are negative. We will do our best to support our player and to help him to come back in the team as soon as possible.”
