George Williams sends ominous message to Super League rivals

George Williams (31) of Warrington Wolves makes a break

George Williams has sent an ominous message to the rest of Super League as he looks ahead to the 2022 season.

Williams will form a ruthless halfback partnership with fellow Englishman Gareth Widdop, who will return to pre-season after visiting his family in Australia.

After moving to the Halliwell Jones midway through 2021, Williams will be looking to propel Warrington to a better finish than they managed in the last campaign.

The Wolves may well have finished third in the table behind eventual Grand Finalists St Helens and Catalans Dragons, but they exited the play-offs at the first time of asking in a 19-0 drubbing by Hull KR.

Now, though, a new era has been ushered into at the club with the departure of Steve Price – who left after four seasons at Warrington – and the appointment of former Castleford Tigers boss Daryl Powell.

With the signings of Billy Magoulias, Peter Mata’utia, Joe Bullock, Greg Minikin, Oliver Holmes and James Harrison, Powell has built up his side for another tilt at Super League glory in 2022.

And, Williams cannot wait to get started.

The 27-year-old posted on social media: “February can’t come quick enough…⏳” with a number of Warrington fans telling him how good he looked in the new kit.
