George Williams rejects claims he has left city

Fox Sports claimed this morning that George Williams was busy sunning himself on the Gold Coast, prompting rumours that he was about to make a move by the beach.

However, Williams has taken to Twitter to reject such a call, stating: “Funny thing is I’ve still not left Canberra. He’s wrong lol.”

It’s just another twist in the Canberra saga, with claims from the Canberra Times that the club and Williams had agreed the terms of his release today.

The England international had called for a release from his contract at the end of the season due to homesickness, but the Green Machine opted to cut short Williams’ stay midway through the year.
