Five NRL clubs are interested in George Williams with Parramatta Eels leading the race for the Wigan stand-off.
Having produced another fine display in the Warriors defeat at Headingley on Friday night, the 22-year-old is now considered Super League’s hottest property and he hasn’t gone unnoticed Down Under.
Contracted with the Super League Champions until the end of 2018, Williams appears to be keeping his options open and confirmed that his agent has been contacted by NRL clubs.
Despite the obvious attraction of Australia, the England international has played down any deal for now and wants to concentrate on playing well in a World Cup year.
“We have a lot of good players here who are always getting interest,” Williams said.
“I have not spoken to anyone about a move, for now my focus is on the field because we have a big month coming up with some tough games.”
Williams was named man of the match in Wigan’s recent World Club Challenge victory over Cronulla Sharks, a performance which caught the eye of several NRL clubs.
However, any team from Australia’s premier competition face a massive challenge in prying him away with Warriors chairman Ian Lenegan determined to keep Williams at the club long-term.
