It’s been one of the most talked-about exits of 2021, but George Williams has taken to Twitter to deliver a heartwarming speech to the Canberra Raiders.
It may have been a messy exit, but the English halfback spoke of his gratitude for the NRL club in giving him the opportunity to fulfil his dream of playing in Australia.
It’s thought that Warrington have won the race for his signature, despite Wigan appearing to have first refusal if the 26-year-old returned to the UK.
Right, here we go…
I want to first off thank @RaidersCanberra for giving me the opportunity to fulfil my dream of playing in Australia.
I loved my time in the NRL and the challenge it brought week in-week out. pic.twitter.com/1kLOApdbnG

Regardless of how things ended, I’m proud to be Raider #364 💚
For now, I can’t wait to get home to my family and friends. See you all soon. GW pic.twitter.com/Wr0rXMrOzS
