Gareth Hock was once one of the top backrows in Super League.
He started out at Wigan Warriors where his power made him a real threat out wide and a devastating runner of the ball.
He made 191 appearances in the Cherry and White scoring 48 tries and he did miss a spell during his 10 year stay at the DW Stadium due to a ban which started in 2009 and ended in 2011 after testing positive for cocaine.
This came after he had been crowned Young Player of the Year in 2003 and named in the wider England squad for the World Cup in 2008.
He returned to help Wigan to success in 2011 and 2012 before joining Widnes Vikings on loan in 2013 scoring 10 tries in 18 games.
He then joined Salford Red Devils prior to a controversial move to Leigh Centurions.
He would also spend time with Featherstone Rovers and Barrow Raiders.
Recently it was revealed that Hock was due to appear in a Manchester Crown Court charged with controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate and/or family relationship between January 1 2009 and November 11 last year.
Hock has also been accused of failing to report an accident and failing to stop after an accident.
It is alleged that he was driving Audi A6 which crashed on Gathurst Road in Orrell, on November 11 2022 and then drove off without stopping.
He is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court later this month to face both charges, having pleaded not guilty to the motoring offences at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on February 16, two days after his arrest.
However, now Wigan police have stated that he has been remanded into custody after being charged with rape.
