Gale hopes to reach Old Trafford

Luke Gale (7) of Leeds Rhinos celebrates Leeds Rhinos winning Salford 17-16

Leeds Rhinos captain Luke Gale says he hopes they can claw their league position back and reach the Super League Grand Final.

Because of their Challenge Cup schedule, the Rhinos had to rotate their squad for games against top four rivals Catalans Dragons and Warrington Wolves.

They lost both games, which has seen the Rhinos fall behind in the race for fourth spot. The Rhinos face another tricky match against St Helens on Friday.

He said: “The byproducts of getting to the Challenger Cup Final is playing games midweek, meaning we lost a few.

We play St Helens on Friday, which is tough, but I have no doubt we will get back on the horse. Our target is to get to Old Trafford.”

He also believes the Challenge Cup is just the beginning, and the Rhinos still have more to give.

He added: “It has been a great journey, to win a Challenge Cup at 32, is what dreams are made of.

“We are only going to get better, its only my 12th game for Leeds. Its a new team,  Rich Agar is an unsung hero. He makes it enjoyable.

“He wont take credit for it, but I will give it to him. He has so much belief in us, and I’m proud of him.”
