Castleford Tigers Scrum Half Luke Gale could have kicked his last goal of the season after being rushed to hospital to have his appendix removed .
The man of steel favourite started experiencing pain last night and has had to have an operation today that could end his season early .
The England International told the clubs website ‘This is a freak situation that could happen to anyone at any time and it’s just really unfortunate for me that it has happened to me now at such a crucial point in the season. Rest assured I’ll be doing all I can to aid my recovery with an aim to getting back on the pitch as soon as possible.
“In the meantime, I’ll be 100 per cent behind my team-mates in our quest for the Grand Final to top off what has already been a fantastic year.”
Gale has scored 13 tries this season and had has 20 assists , he is also well out in front with 129 goals and his absence will be a huge blow to the Tigers , his length of time out hasn’t been confirmed but Malcolm Alker once famously played only 15 days after similar surgery , a miraculous recovery like that would see him make the home Semi Final which is 2 weeks on Thursday .
Coach Daryl Powell told the club website , ‘Luke has had surgery relating to his appendix on Tuesday afternoon which will keep him out of immediate action on the field.
