Salford Red Devils pulled off some major business at the close of last week.

As the club released a stunning set of kits for the 2023 season, they upstaged themselves with the news that star centre Tim Lafai would be staying for three more seasons.

Lafai was one of the finds of the season in 2022 and the Red Devils had already activated the clause in his deal to extend his deal to 2023.

They have now further cemented his place at the club and fended off potential suitors from the NRL and Super League with this new deal.

Lafai was key to Salford’s brilliant 2022 season helping them to the semi-finals against St Helens.

He devastated the Champions earlier in the season and was named in the Super League Dream Team.

He has now reflected on his new deal on social media and how he went from traffic controller to Salford Red Devils star.

He said: “Glory to the man above for blessing me and my family with another 3 years over here in sunny Salford.

“This club and team gave this traffic controller a chance to find his love and passion for the game again so I’m grateful to you all.

Excited to make more great memories with you all.”

The Red Devils are reportedly trying to do similar business with another of their star signings from 2022 – Brodie Croft who has stirred up NRL interest after claiming the Man of Steel.
