Horrible news is coming out of France today that 26-year-old Smain Bouafia has passed away this Monday morning.

Bouafia earned promotion from the French National Division One, the third tier of French rugby league, with Tonneins in the 2022 season.

For the 2023 season the 26-year-old Bouafia had joined US Pujols XIII in the Federal division, which has both an East and West division.

Treize Mondial in France had reported on his sad passing.

“French National Champion with Tonneins last season, Smain Bouafia had decided to join Pujols this season to evolve in the Federal . It was a cardiac arrest that took away Smain Bouafia this Monday morning.”

His former club Villeneuve XIII also broke the sad news with a post on their Facebook page.

All at Serious About Rugby League send sincere condolences to Smain’s family, friends and teammates at this difficult time.
