Four Super League clubs interested in NRL prop in move that could lead to Tyrell Sloan’s NRL stay

Tyrell Sloan’s impending move to Castleford Tigers could still take another turn, with reports in Australia saying that the St George Illawarra Dragons are prepared to free up salary cap space in order to keep him.

Sloan is set to join teammates Damien Cook and Mat Feagai at Wheldon Road next year, as a heap of Dragons players make the move to the nothern hemisphere.

Emre Guler has already joined Wakefield, whilst Christian Tuipulotu will arrive at St Helens. Blake Lawrie is headed for York, whilst Luciano Leilua and Hame Sele are Catlans-bound, though the latter is yet to be confirmed.

However, with Sloan’s incredible upturn in form towards the end of the season, it has forced the Dragons to reconsider his exit, and are now trying to free up some funds on the cap to try and convince him to stay.

The 24-year-old has been very open about his move to England, saying he would prefer to stay in Australia should the chance arise. Having already signed on with Castleford, it is likely that the Tigers would demand a fee for Sloan in order to break the contract.

In a bid to try and free up funds, St George have offered out the services of prop Josh Kerr, who is said to have some heavy demand in Super League. CODE Sports have reported that Catalans, Hull FC, Hull KR and even Castleford themselves are interested in bringing in the 30-year-old.

Kerr still has another year left on his contract, and the side have no problem with Kerr staying put for another 12 months. Beyond that, the club have reportedly told him he will not be earning a new deal.
