Former Wigan Warriors halfback Jackson Hastings set for sensational swap deal

Jackson Hastings Wigan Warriors

The situation surrounding around Jackson Hastings keeps evolving.

A week ago the Canberra Times reported that Tim Sheens had said that the former Salford Red Devils star and Man of Steel winner would be staying at the club.

That said, he did note that Luke Brooks would remain his seven likely meaning Hastings would be consigned to playing 13 as he did at the end of last year to the surprise of many after he oversaw three of the four wins the Tigers managed at halfback.

Nonetheless, Sheens wants Brooks to be his seven at least until he can get Mitchell Moses back at the club.

With Brooks, Adam Doueihi and Hastings all in the final year of their deals there was always going to be plenty of change at six and seven. Meanwhile, the departure of one of the three ahead of 2023 was always likely.

The Newcastle Knights for a long time have chased Luke Brooks but now their attention has moved on to former Wigan star Jackson Hastings with ex-Warrington Wolves man Andrew Johns phoning the halfback to try and tempt him to the Knights prior to a meeting this week with the club.

Now the Daily Telegraph is reporting that Hastings will be part of a massive swap deal which will see the Tigers get their hands on long time target David Klemmer for 2023.

So, it seems that Hastings’ potential switch to the Knights is progressing and that it could also enable the Tigers to continue the revamp of their pack which has also seen them chase Wigan’s John Bateman.
