At just 24 years of age, Josh Woods has plenty of his career left in him and today his career has taken an exciting new step with a move to a new club.

A product of the Wigan Warriors academy, the halfback made his Wigan debut back in 2017 and made 13 appearances for the club until he left in 2020.

He made his debut against Salford Red Devils.

During this time, he spent time on loan at Swinton in 2017 and 2018 as well as time with the then Leigh Centurions in 2019 and 2020 making 25 appearances for Leigh in 2019.

In 2021, he made a move to the Newcastle Thunder as a key player for the club who turned professional.

However, after two seasons with the Thunder, Woods has joined one of their Championship rivals.

That’s because he joins Batley Bulldogs for the 2023 season.

It’s an important signing for the Bulldogs who have lost star halfback Tom Gilmore to Widnes Vikings as well as fullback Luke Hooley to Leeds Rhinos.

Thus, Woods is a key signing and will go nicely alongside Ben White who will stay on at the club in 2023.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have already pulled off the signing of Elliot Kear from Bradford Bulls and have Keegan Hirst back after he came out of retirement.

As for the Thunder, they have nailed down a number of their players for next season including former Wigan prop Mitch Clark.
