Former Wigan forward to sort his future out

Canberra Raiders are set to open talks with former Wigan forward Ryan Sutton about extending his current deal, the Canberra Times has reported.

Sutton made his debut for Wigan back in 2014, registering 118 appearances and scoring 11 tries in five seasons before signing with the Green Machine ahead of the 2019 NRL season.

With plenty of finals experience from his time at the Warriors – which included two Grand Final victories as well as one Challenge Cup final loss – Sutton was expected to bed in and propel Canberra towards Premiership glory.

However, despite making a total of 20 appearances for the Raiders in the 2019 season – in which Canberra reached their first Grand Final in 25 years – Sutton was absent from the line-up which lost to Sydney, 14-8.

Overall, the ex-Wigan forward has made almost 50 appearances whilst donning the green jersey and there are many more expected if a new deal is to imminently follow after some good recent performances.
