Former Warrington Wolves star joins NRL club in coaching role

Roy Asotasi made his NRL debut back in 2002 for the Canterbury Bulldogs and 20 years later he is back at the club.
The big prop played 84 games for the Bulldogs including their Grand Final win over the Sydney Roosters in 2004 and their World Club Challenge defeat at the hands of the Leeds Rhinos in 2005.
He would leave the club for South Syndey Rabbitohs in 2007 where he would again get a taste of Super League against the Rhinos as the two sides met in a friendly in America in 2008.
These tastes of Super League would see him make the switch to the competition in 2014 with the Warrington Wolves where he spent two seasons before retiring at the end of 2015 after 58 in two not so fruitful years for the Wire based on the years prior and after that two-year stint.
A former New Zealand and Samoa international, he captained both sides and now returns to the Bulldogs on their coaching staff in a part-time role.
According to the Wide World of Sports‘ Mole, he will join the club’s academy after a successful guest appearance which had the young men at the overjoyed.
“He made a guest appearance this week and the young guys were in raptures over him,” Bulldogs boss Gould told Wide World of Sports.
“He said he’d like to help mentor kids in our Academy program.
“The more the merrier. You can never have too many good people in your football club and it’s great to have him on board.”
