Ex-Warrington Wolves winger Alfie Johnson will return to Super League in 2027, after his move back to the top flight has been confirmed.
Johnson will link up with Castleford Tigers next year, joining Ryan Carr’s side on a two-year deal.
Currently at Halifax, the speedster was released by Wire at the end of last season, making a total of two appearances, the first of which was a try-scoring debut against Wakefield Trinity.
This year, Johnson has featured for Fax on 10 occasions, scoring eight tries. Combine that with four tries in eight games on loan last season, and the 25-year-old has shown he has plenty of potential.

Alfie Johnson makes Super League return with Castleford Tigers
Johnson becomes the Tigers’ fourth signing of 2027 so far, joining St George Illawarra Dragons pair Damien Cook and Mat Feagai at the club next term.
Earlier this week, Leigh Leopards forward Robbie Mulhern was confirmed to join the club, highlighting Castleford’s keenness to announce some new additions for next year already.
Commenting on his switch, Johnson said: “I am incredibly excited to be joining Castleford next season. It’s a historic club with super passionate fans and I can’t wait to get around the place.
“Speaking with Ryan Carr and Chris Chester and hearing their vision going forward made this decision really easy. What they both see in my game, and the areas I can keep on developing is really exciting for me.
“I’m buzzing to get in the building and looking forward to meeting you all!”
Boss Carr added: “It’s great to have Alfie joining us in 27. He’s only just at the beginning of his Rugby League journey and we know there is a lot of growth and untapped potential in him.
“He brings a unique skill set to our team and we are excited to add that to our playing group.”
Director of Rugby, Chris Chester, revealed that Castleford had to fend off competition from other top-flight clubs in order to sign the winger.
“I’ve watched Alfie all season at Halifax and for me he’s been the standout outside back in that competition, the Tigers director said.
“I know that under Carry we can take his game to a whole new level. Alfie can play both wing and centre, he has a great yardage carry and possesses an unbelievable turn of foot.”
