Former Super League star’s son joins Super League club

Iafeta Paleaaesina is one of the great characters of the Super League era.

In 2006, the big powerful prop, famous for barnstorming runs and having the biggest impact an impact sub can have, joined Wigan Warriors.

He scored a famous try for the Cherry and Whites in their 2009 play-off clash with Hull KR before featuring as Wigan ended a 12-year wait for the Super League title in 2010.

He would then spend two years with Salford Red Devils, then the Salford City Reds, before a brief stint in France with Limoux.

In 2014 he returned to Super League were he joined Hull FC. After a spell at the club he would join Doncaster having made nearly 250 Super League appearances.

He retired at the end of 2017.

He was also a New Zealand international.

A player remembered fondly, his son Caleb has now begun his own journey signing a scholarship with Hull FC this week.

Currently in Super League we have the likes of Will Pryce at Huddersfield Giants, Jack Sinfield and others at Leeds Rhinos whilst in academies across the country other sons of famous Super League stars are making their way forward.

But they are forging their own journeys and good luck to them all.
