Former Super League star Will Pryce makes ‘Team of the Year’ down under

Super League Will Pryce for Huddersfield Giants

Former Super League man Will Pryce has been named in the New South Wales Cup Team of the Year in his maiden campaign down under.

Pryce made the move to Newcastle Knights alongside Wigan Warriors star Kai Pearce-Paul, however, game time was harder to come by for the ex-Huddersfield Giants man.

Whilst Pearce-Paul established himself as a regular for the Knights, Pryce had to wait until Round 15 of the NRL season until he was handed his debut where he would score and then drop the f-bomb in his post-match interview.

That debut had followed a string of impressive performances in the New South Wales Cup and Pryce has now been named to the competition’s Team of the Year after his impressive season.

He would only make six NRL appearances but played 16 times in the NSW Cup where he registered 20 try contributions, thus earning him Team of the Year honours.

The New South Wales Cup Team of the Year was announced by New South Wales Rugby League and Pryce was handed the five-eighth position after his maiden campaign.

His 20 try contributions included eight of his own scores as he scored an impressive 126 points in the 16 games that he played.

A statement from NSW Rugby League announcing the team said of Pryce: “The Knights’ UK recruit Will Pryce earns the five-eighth position, recording six tries, 14 try assists, 12 line-breaks, 36 tackle-busts, 51 goals at 78.5 per cent, and 107 run metres per game from 16 NSW Cup appearances.”
