Like former Leeds Rhinos and St Helens star Kyle Eastmond, Wigan Warriors star Chris Aston and even the likes of Leigh Leopards winger Josh Charnley and Sam Burgess have been poached by rugby union before.
Right now there is another rugby union raid going on down under as Rugby Australia works hard to develop the best possible squad for the next World Cup in Australia.
They have already signed Joseph Suaali’i and are interested in the likes of Nathan Cleary and Cameron Munster.
But this isn’t exclusive to Australia.
Last year Catalans Dragons forward Corentin Le Cam switching to the 15-man game.
Le Cam was the tallest Super League player on record at a ridiculous six foot nine inches or two metres and seven centimetres.
That huge frame made it no surprise that he had chance it in the 15-man game with the 23-year-old clearly set to be a target at line-outs.
Le Cam didn’t re-sign with the Dragons at the end of the season leaving him unattached but the switch to union still came as a shock and shame as he had impressed for France at the Rugby League World Cup.
Despite only playing 11 times for France the giant second-rower featured four times for his nation in the recent World Cup and even managed to score a try.
Le Cam also spent time on loan at Whitehaven last season where he also crossed over using his monster frame to his advantage.
He signed with Ceret who play in the French Federal 1 league. Speaking exclusively to Serious About Rugby League last year, Le Cam explained whether he could return to rugby league.
“I don’t know it depends on my adaptation to rugby and my performances,” he said.
However, he will be back in rugby league sooner rather than later according to French publication Treize Mondial.
They are reporting that the huge Le Cam is returning to rugby league to join a French Elite One team for the upcoming season.
