Former Super League forward to compete in prestigious wrestling event

Former Salford Red Devils and Widnes Vikings forward Luke Menzies will be taking part in the WWE Smackdown event as Ridge.

The 33-year-old – who also had spells at the likes of Batley Bulldogs, Hull KR and the Dewsbury Rams – made the transition from the rugby league field to the ring back in 2016 and is now set to compete in the sport’s most prestigious event.

Menzies hasn’t had the most successful times in WWE, with severe injuries plaguing his time in the ring.

In 2020, had to be stretchered out of the arena, reportedly suffering an ankle dislocation and fracture in his left leg and a knee patellar dislocation and patellar tendon rupture in his right leg, but is now fighting fit for an eagerly-awaited return.

Menzies – a former prop – made 156 career appearances in rugby league.
