Former Super League forward finds new club

Dewsbury Rams have announced that Will Maher has joined on loan from Halifax Panthers on an initial two-week deal.

The 27-year-old Prop joins us from Championship side Halifax Panthers where he has made eight appearances so far in 2023.

Prior to his move to the Shay, Maher spent three seasons in Super League with Hull KR and has also featured for Castleford Tigers, Batley Bulldogs and Oxford.

Head Coach Liam Finn said, “We’ve had to move quickly knowing that we’ll be without Dale for a few weeks after his injury he picked up down in Cornwall and Will is an experience Prop with a great attitude who’s looking to add to our already strong pack.”

The Rams are gunning for a return to the Championship via promotion.

In 2009, Dewsbury were unbeaten in their promotion to the Championship from League One.

As for Halifax, they are trying to find some consistency after seasons of finishing third.

They have recently brought in Adam O’Brien from Huddersfield Giants on loan.

This came after Adam Milner signed for Huddersfield Giants from Castleford Tigers on a season long loan prior to a permanent switch in 2024.
