The son of former Super League and NRL star James Maloney has been found and is safe after previously being reported missing.
Kade Maloney, 14, has been found according to members of his family and New South Wales Police who had become involved in the search for the missing teen.
Ex-Super League and NRL star James Maloney’s wife had taken to social media to make a plea after their son, Kade, went missing on the Central Coast in the early hours of Sunday morning.
She had taken to Instagram to appeal for help, confirming that Kade had purchased a train ticket at Gosford Train Station in the early hours and could be headed for Penrith.
New South Wales Police became involved and released a lengthy statement to appeal for help in locating the teenager.
Thankfully, both Jess Maloney and New South Wales Police have now provided updates confirming that Kade is safe.
Jess Maloney posted on her Instagram profile: “Update: Kade has been found!!! He is now safe with our friends. Thank you to everyone who has helped to find him, offered support and shared this post to get it out to so many people.
“Thank you to the NSW police, particularly Brisbane water and Penrith. We are so grateful.”
It’s the update that everyone wanted to hear following her earlier appeal about the whereabouts of Kade.
New South Wales Police had initially shared a statement as well as an image of Kade on their social media page but that has now been updated to provide the positive news.
They posted: “Great news! A 14-year-old boy reported missing from Green Point has been located safe and well. Police than the media and the community for their assistance.”
James Maloney made the move to Catalans Dragons in Super League after a stellar NRL career. He had since moved into coaching, previously leaving the assistant role at North Queensland Cowboys meaning that he and his family had been travelling to Sydney when Kade initially was reported missing.
