Former star player reportedly set to return to rugby league

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is one of the best players to watch on the planet.

Very few players have a killer step like him. Always a joy to watch with ball in hand, nearly a decade ago he was winning his first NRL Grand Final with the Sydney Roosters as we started his career with a bang on the wing elusive and quick.

However, an ambition to play fullback led him to New Zealand Warriors where he became a hero both to the club and to the country helping the Kiwis to the 2013 World Cup Final at England’s expense.

That said, now he’s a hero of the All Blacks having swapped codes and reaching the pinnacle of international rugby union by making his debut the ultra dominant All Blacks.

However, rumours recently circulated that Tuivasa-Sheck could be headed back to rugby league suggesting that he would return to where he made his name, the Sydney Roosters who have slipped down the NRL pecking order over recent seasons after back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019.

That said, RTS himself shut down those rumours as reported by Rugby Pass and Stuff NZ.

This comes as the fullback/winger took to Instagram to respond to the rumours saying his future is sealed until the end of 2023.

He said: “Hey team, hearing a return to NRL and Sydney Roosters. As much as I enjoyed it there, I won’t be heading back. Signed sealed delivered till the end of 2023,”

The rumour started with what former New Zealand Rugby Union international Sir John Kirwan called a “whisper” that there was a contract on the table from the Roosters.

Whether or not that contract exists is unclear but RTS has not accepted the terms of it for certain.

However, now the Notorious Mole of Wide World of Sports has reported that he could return for 2024 with new club The Dolphins reportedly interested.
