Former star enters not guilty plea to sexual assault charges

Ex-NRL star and son of famous Wendell, Tristan Sailor is set to go on trial following allegations he sexually assaulted a woman after a heavy night of drinking in 2020.

The 22-year-old entered not guilty pleas to two counts of aggravated sexual assault – inflicting actual bodily harm – at Sydney’s Downing Centre District Court, Fox Sports has reported.

“Not guilty, your honour” he twice told Judge Dina Yehia.

The court heard that he had allegedly assaulted the woman in October after the pair met at the Bondi Road Hotel in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The matter will return to court in January before he faces a three-week trial in February, the court heard.

Sailor followed in his father’s footsteps to make his NRL debut for St George Illawarra in round 23 of the NRL season, but was released at the end of 2020 after playing just five matches.
