Swinton Lions have announced that Jake Spedding has joined the club ahead of their 2023 Championship campaign.
Although born at Leeds, Jake began his professional career with St Helens six years ago, and then played 20 games for Featherstone Rovers in 2019. However, he has spent the last three seasons with Widnes Vikings.
Jake stands 6 foot 1 and can play centre or wing, and will bring experience and strength to the Lions’ back-line in 2023.
The club felt it prudent to thank the man who helped pull off which is quite a substantial coup:
“Once again the club would like to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of Pride Builder members in helping to ensure Jake’s arrival at Swinton.”
Spedding made four appearances at St Helens after his debut in 2016 as well as 27 appearances on loan at Sheffield in 2017 and 2018.
In 2019 he made the permanent switch to Barrow Raiders but soon found himself at Featherstone Rovers until he joined Widnes Vikings in 2020.
The Vikings have made nine signings for 2023 so it is no surprise to see them look to balance the books with the departure of Spedding.
He becomes the latest in a flurry of Swinton signings including former Warrington Wolves youngster Morgan Burgess who joined the club on Thursday.
