Former St Helens and Hull FC men set to debuts this weekend

Widnes Vikings head coach John Kear has named his side today’s opening pre-season friendly against Rochdale Hornets.

The fixture takes place at the DCBL Stadium, with kick-off at 3pm.

A number of the Vikings’ new signings are set to feature in the match, with further friendlies to come against Oldham and St Helens later this month.

These new signings include former Super League Champion with St Helens Kyle Amor who of course also played for Wakefield Trinity, Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves during his Super League career.

Meanwhile, former Hull FC man Jordan Johnstone has also been named in the side.

Amor, unsurprisingly starts at prop, whilst Johnstone is amongst the substitutes.

Former Batley Bulldogs halfback Tom Gilmore doesn’t feature.

Elsewhere today, Samisoni Langi, Kevin Proctor (Wakefield Trinity), Tom Inman, Eribe Doro, Will Maher, Jake Maizen, Kai Morgan (Halifax Panthers), Jack Walker and Joe Arundel (Bradford Bulls) all debut for their sides.

This comes as Wakefield Trinity host Halifax Panthers in Reece Lyne’s testimonial and Bradford Bulls journey over to take on Dewsbury Rams.

Both of these were 2 o’clock kick offs.

It will be interesting to see which sides prepare for the new campaign with a win this afternoon.
