Swinton Lions have announced the signing of former Salford Red Devils and Bradford Bulls man Adam Sidlow. Sidlow has penned a deal to join the League One club ahead of the 2025 season and he’ll be doing all he can to help them bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
The 37-year-old made just 14 outings in his second spell with Salford, which came to an end when he was released at the conclusion of the season, having spent a chunk of last season on loan in the second tier with Oldham. However, with more than 300 professional outings under his belt, he’ll be hoping to put his experience to good use under head coach Paul Wood at Heywood Road next year.
The Lions will become the eighth club Sidlow has represented in his career, which started at Widnes Vikings in 2006, and the forward is looking forward to the challenge.
“I’m happy to announce that I’ve signed for Swinton Lions for the upcoming 2025 season,” the ex-Salford Red Devils man said in a video posted on X.
“Really can’t wait to get down to training and get started with Paul, all the coaching staff and all the rest of the squad. It’s going to be a good year and hopefully we get ourselves back promoted to the Championship, where Swinton should be.”
Sidlow represented Widnes and Workington Town before making the move to Salford City Reds as they were known then, as the age of 20 back in 2008. He spent five seasons as a regular at Salford and helped the club make the transition from The Willows to the Salford Stadium.
He joined Bradford in 2013 before moving to then League One side Toronto Wolfpack, where he remained until the club withdrew from the league. Two years with Leigh followed before his return in Salford in 2023.
