Former player becomes Bradford Bulls Commercial Director

Bradford Bulls today announced the appointment of a new Commercial Director. The Bulls have revealed that former player Joe Pitts will be returning to the club in the role.

Pitts was introduced to our great game by legend Trevor Foster and then gave 20 years of service as a player. He played for the likes of West Bowling, Idle and Greengates having already represented Bramley, Batley and of course Bradford Northern who became the Bulls we know today.

He clearly knows rugby league very well but also has superb business acumen. He spent 32 years at BT and secured the largest ever outsource contract with a major UK bank at the time worth £80 million. He also sponsored Bradford in a number of areas and in 2009 acted as CEO of Rochdale Hornets.

Pitts is very pleased with his new role saying, “I am delighted to take on this role with Bradford Bulls, I was very impressed with the passion that the team at the Bulls have and their vision of bringing the Bulls back to Bradford and for proud Bradfordians seeking to make them a successful team once more.”

“If successful we will leave a good legacy and I want to play a major part in that legacy as another proud Bradfordian.”

“I appreciate there will be challenges ahead and to some extent we have ground to recover but hopefully we can begin re-establish the club as a premier and credible business in the city.”

Nigel Wood, Bradford’s chairman, is also very happy with the appointment:  “We are delighted that Joe has agreed to help the club. He is Bradford through and through, he has enjoyed a long and successful business career and knows the sport of rugby league from the inside.

“It goes without saying that we wish him well in his endeavours in progressing this vital role.”

The Bulls will be hoping Pitts and co can take them back to Super League. In the meantime their Championship campaign continues on April 18th against Halifax. Bradford will be looking for their first league win of the season.
