Former Leeds Rhinos star Adam Cuthbertson confirms Featherstone Rovers exit

Adam Cuthbertson is one of the best overseas signings in Super League history.

He joined Leeds Rhinos in 2015 helping them to a historic treble.

In 2017 he picked up his second Super League title and in 2020 he added a second Challenge Cup Final win against Salford Red Devils in what would prove to be his last game for Leeds due to injury.

In 2021 he joined York prior to reuniting with former Leeds boss Brian McDermott at Featherstone in 2022 in a player coach role.

At the end of 2022 he confirmed his retirement from playing as he took to the field one last time for Leeds in a friendly against New Zealand.

He has previously spoken about wanting to go into coaching and led Leeds Rhinos Women to their first four major honours.

Likely to continue coaching, Cuthbertson won’t be staying on at Featherstone alongside former Leeds Rhinos assistant Sean Long in 2023.

He confirmed as such on Instagram as he thanked the club for the opportunities they gave him.

“I’d like to announce that I’ll be parting ways with Featherstone Rovers in pursuit of other opportunities in 2023.

“I’d like to thank the Club and Brian McDermott for the opportunity in 2022, I can confidently say I’ve learnt so many invaluable lessons under the guidance of Mac and because of this I’ll forever be grateful.

“I wish Featherstone Rovers FC the very best with the 2023 season and hope that they can continue to build and challenge for Super League in the near future.”
