Former Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls half-back Jordan Lilley has shared an honest assessment of his ongoing rehabilitation, revealing the toll of a protracted recovery process alongside unexpected medical hurdles.
Lilley, who joined the Sheffield Eagles ahead of the 2026 Championship season following his departure from Odsal, suffered a season-ending knee injury during a round nine fixture against Doncaster in April.
Taking to social media to share his struggles, the 29-year-old admitted he has reached a breaking point due to the lack of a definitive timeline.
“Mentally absolutely drained,” Lilley wrote.
“Been waiting 5 months to date and there’s no end goal for me and it’s really taking its toll.
“Wouldn’t normally be one for letting someone make this for me, but for the first time in my life I’m lost and unsure what’s next.”
Compounding his frustration are the extensive delays within the healthcare system, which have left him facing a long road before he can even contemplate a return to action.
“With the wait time on the NHS up to 52 weeks, it could be 3 years before I get back on the field and that’s absolutely killing me,” Lilley added, prompting him to seek alternative funding options for the necessary procedure.

The setback and subsequent challenges come as a major blow to the Eagles during their Championship season, cutting short Lilley’s debut season at Olympic Legacy Park.
Having progressed through the youth system at Headingley before making over 180 appearances for Bradford, Lilley remains one of the second tier’s most experienced operators, making his extended absence a major challenge both for the player and his club.
