A former Hull KR player is set for a lengthy layoff after suffering a broken arm, an injury that he incredibly managed to play through.
Championship high flyers Oldham have confirmed that their star winger Kieran Dixon will be out for eight to ten weeks after breaking his arm in last weekend’s win over Sheffield Eagles.
The Roughyeds won 20-8 as they moved to second in the Championship despite only earning promotion to the competition this season.
Sean Long’s side have won three of their five games and drawn another with their sole loss coming at the hands of Barrow Raiders, who sit in fourth.
This weekend’s win saw Dixon score the fourth try which ensured the victory by stretching the lead from within one score to an unassailable 12-point lead, however, the celebrations were muted from the former Hull KR man on account of the fact he broke his arm earlier in the match.

Dixon’s try came from pure effort as well with the winger chasing down a Josh Drinkwater kick and dispossessing Sheffield’s full-back in order to score, however, the former Hull KR man shrugged off his teammates celebrations as he held his arm.
Head coach Sean Long has now confirmed that Dixon played the final 15 minutes with a broken arm, battling through on account of the club having no remaining interchanges.
Long explained: “There wasn’t much celebration because his arm was broken but we have got him in for an operation on Tuesday and he will probably be out for eight weeks.
“It’s a massive setback, especially with the injuries we have got in the outside backs as we were light anyway. It is a bitter blow for us and for Kieran as I thought he was outstanding at the weekend.”
He wasn’t the only injury casualty that Oldham suffered in the outside backs with Wigan Warriors loanee Nathan Lowe suffering a shoulder tear, something that is set to rule him out for a period.
