Former Hull FC star joins coaching staff in surprising move

Former Hull FC forward Jansin Turgut has joined the Turkey Rugby League coaching staff.

Turgut, 25, last played in Super League for the Salford Red Devils in 2019, but follows in future Leeds star Aidan Sezer’s footsteps by representing the country of his heritage – through his father – as a coach.

The forward earned four caps for Turkey as a player, scoring twice, but it was Turgut’s time at Hull where he will be most fondly remembered. He donned the Airlie Birds’ jumper 30 times over a period of four seasons before moving permanently to Salford ahead of the 2018 season.

Turgut has already being getting coaching experience, having joined the coaching staff of West Hull ARLFC in a region where he was born and grew up in.

But, it was the fall from three storeys in Ibiza in May 2019 that shocked the rugby league fraternity, with Turgut attaining serious injuries and being put on life support.

Since then, the 25-year-old has made a superb recovery and is ready to delve into international rugby once more.
