Former Hull FC star Albert Kelly and ex-Warrington halfback Tyrone Roberts set for major battle

Former Hull FC star Albert Kelly and ex-Warrington halfback Tyrone Roberts are set for a major battle.

That’s because both are vying, alongside Billy Walters, Ezra Mam and Tyson Gamble, for that other halfback spot alongside new Brisbane Broncos recruit Adam Reynolds.

Reynolds, who joined Brisbane from the South Sydney Rabbitohs at the end of the 2021 NRL season, does not know who will play with him in the halves in 2022, but revealed that he is looking forward to seeing the challenge out.

“I’m not too sure (who’ll be five-eighth next season),” Reynolds told 7 News.

“I’ve been training with Billy, have a good relationship with Albert and Tyson is experienced, a quality player.

“There’s a number of candidates there that can do the job.

“Ask Kev … he’s the man in charge with a clear idea of what’s going on.

“But any time you’re fighting for a position it’s healthy for the squad.

“It brings out the best in one and other; you do those one percenters a little more than you would.”

Kelly joined the Broncos midway through 2021 on a short-term deal, but impressed enough to be handed a contract for 2022.

Meanwhile, Roberts is currently sat on a train-and-trial contract as he attempts to forge a future with the Broncos.
