Former Hull FC centre becomes York’s latest signing

York have made a habit of signing Super League calibre players over the last two years.

Whether former Man of Steel nominee Adam Cuthbertson or new recruit Pauli Pauli, the City Knights have added some serious quality to their ranks over the last two years under James Ford who recently signed a new deal with the club.

Today they’ve continued that trend with the signing of former Hull FC centre Jack Logan. Logan is a Hull FC academy product and made his debut for the Black and Whites back in 2014 before writing his name forever into the history books when he scored a superb hat-trick when Hull beat local rivals Hull KR 56-12 in 2019.

Once his time at Hull came to an official end in 2019, after a number of loan spells across the divisions, he had a brief stint with Doncaster in 2020 before joining Batley ahead of the 2021 season and was expected to impress in the second tier with the Bulldogs and impress he did earning a move back to Hull part way through last season scoring against Huddersfield as he made his return.

After a brief stint back home he made the move to Leigh to finish last season with the Centurions but has now taken on a new challenge at York as the City Knights bid for promotion in what should be one of the best Championship seasons we’ve ever seen next year.

The 26-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the club ahead of 2022 and expressed his excitement about joining York’s journey in an interview with their official website: “The main part was taking that step back away from Super League. I’ve sort of scratched that itch of playing in that league for now and I think the best thing for my family and I was signing part-time.

“If you look in the Championship at the clubs that can really offer you a good part-time deal, York has to be up there with the best if not the best itself for opportunity, ambition, great facilities and a highly regarded coaching staff.

“There’s a great playing group as well, a mix of youth and experience. It’s a really good platform for somebody to be really excited about.”

Meanwhile Head Coach James Ford noted the quality Logan will bring to their outside backs: “Jack brings more competition to our centre positions, he’s played plenty of Super League for Hull FC and we’re aiming at getting him back to those levels and beyond.

“We’re looking forward to working with Jack and helping him back to the top of his game.”
