Sheffield Eagles have been very busy going into 2023.
Perhaps the 1998 Challenge Cup winners are looking for another miracle akin to the one they masterminded at Wembley all those years ago and the man at the heart of that, Lance Todd winner Mark Aston, is again at the centre of things in 2023.
The Eagles’ Director of Rugby has pulled off a number of major signings which could have the Eagles dreaming of a return to Super League.
They’ve signed the likes of his son Cory Aston, former Super League Grand Finalist Jesse Sene-Lefao and highly thought of Leeds Rhinos youngster Joe Hird.
Theu have continued their preparations for next year today with yet another signing in the shape of former Huddersfield Giants forward Oliver Roberts.
Roberts previously had a stint at Sheffield on loan in 2015 and returns to the club in 2023.
He started his career at Bradford before making the move to Huddersfield where he spent seven seasons making 95 appearances amongst loans with Sheffield, Oldham, Halifax and Salford Red Devils before joining Newcastle Thunder in 2022.
Now though he returns to the Eagles in 2023 with a three year deal.
The confirmed the signing with a typically hilarious announcement video which has been the hallmark of their recruitment so far this off-season and you can watch it here:
